Rebeca Martinez (Democrat Incumbent)
Justice Rebeca Martinez has served on the Fourth Court of Appeals since 2015, where she has authored more than 600 opinions. She clerked for U.S. Magistrate Judge Eduardo de Ases of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas and Justice Federico Hinojosa on the Thirteenth Court of Appeals.
Martinez received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University and a law degree from the Boston University School of Law. She has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1993.
Shane J. Stolarczyk (Republican Challenger)
Shane J. Stolarczyk is an appellate lawyer and a judge advocate general in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, where he is currently a captain. Stolarczyk is a military prosecutor in court martial proceedings and a legal advisor to commanders. He also provides legal assistance to military, civilian, dependent and retiree personnel from all branches of service. He is formerly a Staff Attorney for the chief justice of the Fourth Court of Appeals and a former adjunct professor at Saint Mary’s University School of Law in the capacity of moot court advocacy coach.
Stolarczyk received bachelor’s degrees from Skidmore College and a law degree with honors from Albany Law School. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 2001.
