Patricia O’Connell Alvarez (Democrat Incumbent)
Justice Patricia O’Connell Alvarez has served on the Fourth Court of Appeals since 2013. She had 25 years of experience in private practice before joining the Court.
O’Connell Alvarez received a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas-San Antonio and a law degree from The University of Texas Law School. She has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1987. She is board certified in personal injury trial law.
O’Connell Alvarez has received the College of the State Bar of Texas Jim Bowmer Professionalism Award and was named judge of the year by the State Bar of Texas Hispanic Issues Section and the Mexican American Bar Association.
Jason Pulliam (Republican Challenger)
Jason Pulliam is currently a civil litigation attorney. He formerly served on the Fourth Court of Appeals and was also judge of the Bexar County Court at Law No. 5 and an elected administrative judge in the Bexar County Statutory County Courts at Law. He is a former judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Pulliam received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Brooklyn College and a law degree from the Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where he was a senior staff member of the Thurgood Marshall Law Review. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 2000.
Pulliam received the State Bar of Texas African-American Section Trailblazer Award, was named Honorary Young Lawyer of the Year by the San Antonio Young Lawyers’ Association, and received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
