Frances Bourliot (Democrat Challenger)
Frances Bourliot is an assistant public defender in the Appellate Division of the Harris County Public Defender’s Office. She is a former staff attorney for Texas Defender Service and completed a fellowship with Reprieve to study the effect of eyewitness misidentifications on wrongful convictions. She is also a former adjunct faculty member at the University of Houston Law Center.
Bourliot received a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. She has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 2008.
Martha Hill Jamison (Republican Incumbent)
Justice Martha Hill Jamison has served on the Fourteenth Court of Appeals since 2011. She was judge of the 164th Civil District Court, where she served as a civil administrative judge and chair of the Legislative Committee. She is also former general counsel for the Harris County Tax Office and former assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas.
Jamison received a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a law degree from The University of Texas. She has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1977 and is board certified in civil trial law.
Justice Jamison has been endorsed by TLRPAC and the Texas Civil Justice League PAC.
