Robert Burns (Democratic Candidate)
Judge Robert Burns has served as presiding judge of Dallas County Criminal Dist. Court No. 1 since 2007. He has 10 years’ experience in private practice and served as deputy chief of the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office Organized Crime Division for six years.
Burns received a bachelor’s degree from Austin College and a law degree from the Southern Methodist University School of Law. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1990.
Douglas S. Lang (Republican Candidate)
Justice Douglas S. Lang has served on the Fifth Court of Appeals since 2002. He served as a briefing attorney for the Missouri Supreme Court.
Lang received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration from Drake University and a law degree from the University of Missouri Law School. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1973.
Lang is the sole appellate judge member of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct, a former member of the Texas Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation and past president of the National Conference of Bar Presidents.
Justice Lang is endorsed by TLRPAC and the Texas Civil Justice League PAC.
